The Emory Political Science Department offers a comprehensive program of study at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Fields of study include American government and politics, international relations, comparative politics and political philosophy. We also are committed to rigorous methods training at the graduate level. Undergraduate students may choose political science as a major (40 semester hours) or minor (24 semester hours) field of study. A special undergraduate concentration is also available in international studies (40 semester hours, 28 hours in political science), which provides a broad background in foreign language and culture, politics, history, and economics for those students interested in careers in journalism, teaching, international business or government service. There are approximately 440 undergraduate majors, including 260 in Political Science and 180 in International Studies. The department includes 31 faculty members and six associated faculty members. At the graduate level, the department offers a program of study leading to the Ph.D. degree. Students may concentrate in American politics, comparative politics, or international relations. Approximately 45 students are active in the graduate program, with approximately seven students entering each year. The department has an ongoing relationship with Emory's Center for the Study of Law, Politics and Economics and the Office of University and Community Partnerships. Our undergraduate majors have the opportunity to participate in the Emory University Community Building and Social Change Fellows Program and graduate students may participate as Community Partnership Graduate Fellows.
