Michael Leo Owens, Ph.D. (2001) State University of New York at Albany. Author of God and Government in the Ghetto: The Politics of Church-State Collaboration in Black America (University of Chicago Press, 2007), his primary research and teaching areas are governance and public policy processes, urban politics, religion and politics, and African American politics. He is a past winner of the Urban Affairs Association's Young Scholar Award and a Ford Foundation Minority Fellowship. He is an associate of Emory's Office of University-Community Partnerships and Center for the Study of Law and Religion, as well as a board member of the National Housing Institute.
