Political Science Major Requirements

 

Political Science: Requirements for Minor Concentration

The Minor Concentration in Political Science comprises twenty-four (24) semester hours (6 courses). Students who minor in political science must complete:

  • POLS 100 National Politics in the United States (4 hours)
  • POLS 110 Introduction to International Politics (4 hours)
  • POLS 120 Introduction to Comparative Politics (4 hours)
  • One course in Political Theory (4 hours)(Please note: As of Fall 2005, Methods classes will no longer satisfy the political theory distribution requirement for the Political Science minor and may only be used for elective credit. Any Methods classes taken prior to Fall 2005 MAY be used to fulfill this distribution requirement)
  • Two elective courses at the Junior/Senior level (300 level or above) (8 hours)
    Four hours of credit from an internship (POLS 496) may be applied toward the elective requirements for the Minor. POLS 497 (Directed Study) may not be used to fulfill any of the requirements for the Minor. No course for the minor may be taken S/U. Students who declare a Minor Concentration in Political Science will not be assigned an adviser. Students who require advising should consult with the Director of Undergraduate Studies.
