Graduate Placement

Emory's program is primarily designed for the student seeking an academic career. About 60 percent of our PhDs receive tenure track faculty appointments at colleges and universities. The curriculum is structured to provide breadth of knowledge coupled with mastery of a specific area in which the student is most interested.

This training qualifies an Emory graduate for positions in small liberal arts colleges as well as larger, research-oriented universities. In addition, our unique teacher training program makes our graduates particularly attractive to institutions looking for strong college-level instructors.

Faculty members are always seeking ways to make our students better qualified and more attractive on the job market. The Department has a formal placement program to assist graduates in finding suitable positions.
